The Southport Jewelry Box: From Builder-Grade to Bespoke Charm
Making the leap from a two-bedroom condo to a five-bedroom house is a dream come true, but it comes with a unique challenge: turning a vast, impersonal space into a place that truly feels like home. For a family new to Chicago's coveted Southport Corridor, this meant shedding the ubiquitous "builder-grade" finishes and infusing every room with personality, warmth, and a touch of the unexpected.
Curated Comfort: The Living and Dining Room
The main living and dining area was a beautiful blank slate waiting for a story. Our primary role was to furnish the space in a way that felt both elegant and livable for a growing family. We started at the heart of the room: the fireplace. While preserving the original mantle, we elevated its presence with new, luxurious marble slabs, creating a refined focal point.
Above it, we sourced a captivating piece of art that sets the tone for the entire open-concept area. But the true showstopper is the light fixture we sourced and installed over the dining space. A magnificent cascade of brass and crystal, this piece is more than a chandelier; it's a piece of jewelry for the home. Weighing close to 100 pounds, its installation was a feat of engineering, but its impact is immeasurable, casting a warm, glamorous glow over the entire room.
A Pop of Personality: The Powder Room
We believe small spaces are the perfect opportunity to make a big statement. The powder room, often overlooked, became our canvas for creativity. Working with the existing tile and pedestal sink, we transformed the room into a vibrant "jewelry box." The journey began with a delightful lemon-print wallpaper, adding a burst of cheerful energy.
To complement this playful backdrop, we introduced a uniquely framed mirror and chic new wall sconces. The ceiling and baseboards were painted a deep navy, grounding the space and adding a layer of sophistication. Capped with a new ceiling fixture, the room is a testament to individuality—a small but mighty space that leaves a lasting impression.

Making a House a Home
This Southport Corridor refresh was a study in personalization. It’s about understanding that a home's character is built not just in grand gestures, but in the thoughtful details—the whimsical wallpaper, the perfectly chosen art, the statement light fixture—that reflect the people who live there.
